The Plight of Poor Indian

With this post, I want to make you all aware of the distressing and discouraging aspect of human society living under Poverty, the post will present a brief introduction, followed by remedies that the government had opted for.

Did any of you come across a situation, when you felt that it is becoming difficult to live, to get two square meals a day, lack of education, etc?
Obviously No!!

I expect that all of you are getting the best of the facilities and environment to make a way to a sustainable and higher quality life. But there are still 300 million people who live in the worst situation that is they live in Poverty.

Eli Khamarov once said, "Poverty is like punishment for a crime that you didn't commit".

A person is said to be live in poverty when he doesn't have access to the fundamental facilities, lack of income, not sufficient food to feed itself, etc. From the Indian perspective, poverty is one of the biggest issues, and to overcome it is one of the major initiatives irrespective of the government ruling the country.  From the very first Five Years Plan, our various governments have tried to minimize poverty by taking various far-fetching measures, commendably they have brought it down to 20% still the figure is not satisfactory.

Poverty arises due to a lot of issues like due to the prevalent caste system, different levels of income, social injustice, lack of education, fragmentation of land, and a lot of diverse factors.
In India major historical reasons for poverty can be attributed to the advent of  "The Britishers". Their policy of deindustrialization, decaying India's export of finished goods, using India as a raw material factory, devasting India's textile industry, etc.

Indian constitution and government since its inception have obliged to restraint poverty and a variety of root striking measures had been taken. Measures taken till date has emphasized on mainly three agendas :

1) Providing fundamental facilities,
2) Increasing growth by improving measures affecting GDP,
3) Initiating diverse poverty alleviation programs,

Firstly let's see why is it necessary to provide the basic amenities, a lot of government programs are initiated to make it possible like PMGSY, Integrated child development plan and Midday meal, PMGY, VAAY with this schemes government have tried to develop basic infrastructure, providing better connectivity, providing the necessary nutrition to kids, etc.

The second idea of increasing growth by improving the ways of production by inculcating better technology and innovations, advancement like the Green Revolution which has proved to be the turning point in making India self-sufficient in full filing its food requirement, different land reforms to make the distribution of land even, making the Indian industry more fertile and profitable.

The Third idea is the most visible and in my view more oriented towards making Indian society free of poverty. Schemes like PMGRY, SJSRY, REGP, SJSY, NRLM, NULM; this all schemes have helped in providing employment, creating self-employment, encouraging unemployed and educated people to start small-scale ventures. Acts like MGNREGA of 2005 has substantially helped in providing a promised employment of 100 days to those who are willing to work on minimum wage, it has benefited more than 5 crore people.

Concluding all these steps have helped in curbing poverty and bringing down it inside a manageable figure still, India needs to restructure its policies, improving the current implementation of running schemes, making benefit directly reach the needy by schemes like PMJDY and limit corruption. And achieving this goal states have to play a dominant role due to the diverse demographic difference that spans India.
